Something Blue and Is Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me?

I'm linking up with Heather from Blonde...Undercover Blonde for Book Club!

Something Blue by Emily Giffin

If you haven't already read Something Borrowed by Giffin I reviewed it in October. The book is from the perspective of "the girl everyone hates in Something Borrowed," who I actually preferred in the first book. This one made me like her even more, especially since she found herself and who her true friends were.

I loved this book! It was one of the best books I've read this year and was simply entertaining. I didn't have to work to hard to get through this in two days and it was so easy to get into. The Mindy Show has become one of my favorites this year and this book only helped confirm my love of Mindy Kaling. I read Bossypants last summer and comparing books from female comedians, this was much better.

How To: Create Modern Art

As I pack up my apartment today I thought it would only be fitting to share with you all my last apartment decoration. I was feeling particularly crafty after I figured out knitting (more on this later) and I wanted to change up my entrance bookshelf. I saw a similar idea floating around Twitter and Instagram and decided to give it a shot.

I have a ton of lip products and decided to put them to the test for this craft. It was incredibly simple and would make a great Valentine's Day themed gift.

I used lipsticks I already had along with a frame (from Ikea) I had taken the old picture out of, and this craft was virtually free.

What's your favorite easy craft?

Lilly Summer 2013 Wish List

In my opinion, Lilly Pulitzer has really come around this summer. I wasn't thrilled really by anything in the spring, with the exception of the Lucky Charms print, and I chose to wear a print from fall 2012 to the Kentucky Derby instead of getting something new. Thankfully, Lilly got their act together for the summer and even opened up a store in Kenwood, in Cincinnati.

This just screams, "take me to the opera/concert/recital/arts event" to me. I'm simply enamored by it.

I just know I would wear this often. I'm sure it's the nicest feel and I could still layer it over other pieces I have.

I literally must have this dress. It's at the very top of my wish list, albeit farther down this list. The High Beams print is my favorite this summer, just check out my Twitter page. I am counting down the days until I have this dress.

This print would've been perfect for Derby, and I event saw a few women wearing it. I think it would be perfect for Derby soirées to come.

What's your favorite Lilly this summer?

Spring OOTDs

This has been a pretty good spring for my shopping-wise. I've picked up a good number of staples that will last me through my internship and throughout next year in grad school.

I've been so lucky this year to have a part-time job, especially one that lets me dress casually everyday. I wore this to work when it was first starting to warm up in Cincinnati.

And then it got cold again and I broke the Bean boots out for one last time.

UC Holi Festival

Before school let out my SAI sisters SBV and MYJ and I participated in the 2013 University of Cincinnati Holi Festival to celebrate spring. The event in it's second year was organized by the Asian American Association and other campus groups helped. There was dancing, games, and my favorite part, the color throwing.

I wore one of the pocket shirts I made with Suze in the fall and luckily (since I'm a stain master) I was able to remove all of the color from my shirt, jeans, shoes, watch, iPhone, and hair. My sunglasses though, are still pink tinted on the nose piece.

I'm pretty sure that I had pink in my hairline for about half a week after the event and I kept finding orange in my ear. It was a tremendously fun event and I would recommend it to anyone looking to have a good time. I had prepared though, and I brought beach towels for my car ride home.

The event last year (below) definitely helped draw in crowds for this year's event. I know I wanted the effect of the color run without actually running...

Have you ever participated in a Holi Festival or the Color Run?

Divergent and Fear Itself

I'm linking up with Heather from Blonde...Undercover Blonde for Book Club!

Divergent by Veronica Roth

I received this book from Kim during the Christmas in July gift swap. I read it during my trip to Philadelphia and it couldn't have been a better book to take my mind off of things. It was a really quick read and I'd recommend it to anyone who liked The Hunger Games. The story line was somewhat similar about a girl in dystopian Chicago going off on her own and fighting.

Unlike the above book, Fear Itself definitely took a lot of time to read and to get used it. I hadn't read a nonfiction in a while so it was different and harder for me to adjust to. The book was very informative and considerably more dense than I was ready for. All in all, it was good if you're really into the New Deal or have a knack for that time period.

What have you read lately? Any suggestions?

Ohio Genealogical Society Civil War Dinner

Before graduation I attended the Ohio Genealogical Society Civil War Dinner with my parents. They're members and the conference this year was in Cincinnati. The event was held at the Millennium Hotel downtown, and though I didn't stay with my parents, they noted that it was a very historical building and had a good view.

After dinner (pork chops) the new members of relatives of the Civil War were inducted.

Have you ever attended an event like this?
